Our comprehensive maternity services provide support to families during pregnancy, birth, and postnatal care. This includes antenatal classes, pre-admission midwife support, private rooms with facilities that allow a support person to stay comfortably, room-service, an option to stay at the Park Hyatt and access to a breastfeeding support clinic until your baby is 12 months of age.

Special Care Nursery

Sometimes, babies need a little bit of extra care and attention.

Our very experienced neonatal paediatricians, midwifery and nursing staff will provide your baby with outstanding care and attention. Since our Nursery is so well equipped, we regularly care for babies with complex care needs, babies born prematurely from 32 weeks, and also multiple births.

Family Suites

All our family suites come with a private ensuite, complete with a combination of double and single rooms. All rooms are equipped for a support person to comfortably stay. 

The family suites all have wi-fi access, a tv, a bar fridge, coffee and tea amenities, a safe for valuables, linen, and a wardrobe. All rooms also have access to hospital grade breast pumps.

Family retreat program - Park Hyatt

The Family Retreat at Melbourne’s luxurious Park Hyatt Hotel is an option for completing your postnatal care. You will be escorted by our maternity concierge to your luxury vehicle equipped with an approved infant safety restraint, which complies with Australian safety standards.

Room Service

We offer full room service for all meals and even have an all-day breakfast menu. Your fresh, cooked-to-order meal will be delivered in under 45 minutes from placing your request. Alternatively, you also have the option to pre-order a meal and have it delivered at a specified time.

FAQ

As soon as your pregnancy has been confirmed and you have booked with one of our Obstetricians, they will notify us that you are coming.  We will then send you an email with a link to complete your online registration with the hospital.
This will vary based on your health fund and level of cover. We recommend getting in touch with your health fund and asking the following questions: 
  1. Do I have any waiting periods?
  2. Do I need to change my level of cover to ensure my baby is covered if admitted to the Special Care Nursery?
  3. Do I (or my baby) have an excess or co-payment on my level of cover?
  4. Are there any other financial gaps?
  5. Are there any exclusions on my level of cover?
All mums are guaranteed a private room and a support person is welcome to stay. We offer spacious and stylish rooms, many with double beds, and those without double beds have a comfortable fold out sofa-bed.  A nightly fee of $75 will be charged to cover the overnight accommodation for your partner/support person if you have a double bed and includes breakfast.
This may vary depending on the patient, but typically those who give birth vaginally will stay for 4 nights, while those who have a caesarean section will stay 4-5 nights.  In consultation with your obstetrician, there is an option to complete your postnatal care at the Park Hyatt or an opportunity to be eligible for early discharge home.
